Award-winning Dorset Seafood Festival SEAFEAST is making a return to Weymouth Peninsula for another year of celebrations, offering guests the opportunity to eat, discover and learn about the incredible fish and seafood available along our British coastline.

Taking place over two days on the 9 and 10 September 2024, the event promises a spectacular line-up of food, drink and entertainment, from incredible street food vendors to workshops, live cooking demonstrations and more. It's also bringing a brilliant line-up of local chefs and expert speakers to Dorset, with a host of exciting talks and tastings taking place over the weekend.

As it does every year, SEAFEAST also helps to raise money for the Fisherman’s Mission Charity, which has been supporting fisherman across the UK for the last 137 years, and to educate attendees on sustainable fishing, seafood and the coast.

Which chefs are attending SEAFEAST this year?

There are two main demo stages - The Harbour Stage and The Bay Stage – where visitors can watch exciting chef demonstrations and sample some delicious seafood. So, who’s attending the festival this year?

SEAFEAST has always championed local chefs and this year is no exception. Hear Nigel Bloxham, head chef at The Crab House Café, talk about his Oyster Farm on the Fleet, while Mike Naidoo joins the festival from Catch at the Old Fish Market, one of the few Michelin-listed restaurants in the area.

Radhika Mohandas, chef owner of Dorshi in Bridport, is a SEAFEAST newcomer – listen to her chat all things ‘dumplings and not dumplings’. Mike Beaton MBE - aka Commando Chef - makes his festival debut. From the Royal Marines to GB Athlete to educating today’s young people through food, this chef has done it all. While Angus Cowen, one half of the Dorset-based tinned fish company Sea Sisters, will be delighting visitors with his tasty tinned fish.

The crowds at SEAFEAST

On the drinks front, award winning award-winning drinks columnist for The Sunday Telegraph Susy Atkins will be hosting a wine tasting session with Dorset English Sparkling Wines – Bride Valley, Furleigh Estate and Langham.

And let’s not forget SEAFEAST’s fabulous hosts! On The Bay Stage, Gus Caslake (South West Regional Manager of SEAFISH) will be talking all things crab, while on The Harbour Stage, Steven Lamb returns as presenter, a curing and smoking expert, teacher, presenter, culinary consultant and award-winning author.

What else can you expect at SEAFEAST?

From kids' entertainment to a beer and cheese tasting, there's SO much to see and do at SEAFEAST in September. Get stuck into these awesome activities.

There’s plenty more to see and do at The Dorset Seafood Festival this year. You can't go wrong simply wandering around its many seafood vans and stores, sampling super fresh seafood and other tasty dishes! Don’t miss The Fish Auction, hosted by Duncan Lucas, where you can bid on fresh fish provided by Weyfish. All money raised goes straight to SEAFEAST’S hero charity the Fishermen’s Mission, which works solely to support fishermen and their families.

Elsewhere, Catering Skills Lead & Avenue Manager at Weymouth College, Ashley Perry, will be cooking up a storm with students from Weymouth College as they create their own seafood dishes. While Mark Woodhouse, the director of pub group Hall & Woodhouse, will be hosting a beer and cheese pairing tutorial, if that's more your thing.

SEAFEAST is a great day out for the whole family too, with a free Kid’s Cookery School, a live music stage and a host of children's activities taking place all weekend.
