Tucked away inside the Cavendish London Hotel, Mayfair Lounge and Grill is a sophisticated restaurant in glamorous St James's, offering a range of menus, including afternoon tea and Sunday lunch.
The restaurant’s dining room is cosy, yet stylish and the space is flooded with natural light thanks to large windows which overlook the well-heeled streets of St James’s. At breakfast time, guests are encouraged to visit the attached Mayfair Bar and Lounge, which serves a range of breakfast dishes up until midday.
From noon onwards, head to the stylish Lounge and Grill, where the lunch menu is a compact, three course offering that focuses around the grill section. Kick things off with elegant starters such as the chef’s soup of the day, a salt-baked beetroot with goat's cheese curd, or crab tart with seasonal salad. Flame-kissed steaks from the grill are the popular pick for mains (a choice between sirloin, fillet or ribeye), or there's the option of grilled soy and miso cauliflower, or a grilled ribeye surf and turf with tiger prawns.
Other mains are on offer too, including dishes like monkfish loin with cauliflower puree, and wild garlic gnocchi with chanterelle mushrooms and Parmesan emulsion, as well as a handful of classic sides like chips, wilted spinach and green beans with chilli.
Mayfair Lounge and Grill also has a very affordable early bird set menu on offer, and a special afternoon tea menu available daily between 2-5pm; the indulgent experience begins with an assortment of finger sandwiches, followed by delicate patisserie treats like mango cremeux with spiced rice pudding tart. Finally, enjoy an assortment of fruit or plain scones, with clotted cream and strawberry jam.
